In Kenya, Uganda, and many other countries, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech-language pathologists often work in isolation. They may be the only therapist in their organization, clinic, or entire region.
Without colleagues to consult, continuing education opportunities, or access to the latest research, these therapists face enormous challenges:
- Complex cases with no one to ask for guidance
- Limited access to professional development
- Outdated techniques from their training years ago
- Professional burnout from working alone
- No community of practice to support them
Meanwhile, in the United States, experienced therapists have decades of clinical expertise, access to research, and professional networks—but limited opportunities to share this knowledge globally.

1. Match
We carefully match U.S. therapists (mentors) with overseas practitioners (mentees) based on specialty, experience level, language, and goals. Matches are designed to be mutually beneficial and sustainable.
2. Connect
Mentor and mentee meet monthly via video call (Zoom, WhatsApp, etc.) for 60 minutes. Meetings are flexible, informal, and focused on the mentee's questions, cases, and professional development goals.
3. Learn & Share
Mentees bring challenging cases, ask clinical questions, and learn new techniques. Mentors share expertise, provide guidance, and gain global perspective. Both grow professionally through the partnership.
4. Sustain
Mentorship relationships continue for at least 6 months, with many lasting years. Mentees also gain access to ViaThera's global therapist community, webinars, and resources.

Priority Countries for 2027
ViaThera Reach is initially focusing on therapists in East Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania) with expansion to Southeast Asia and West Africa in 2028. Therapists from other countries are welcome to join the waitlist for future cohorts.
